The Tuck Shop is back!

All children from Year 2 to Year 6 may now buy a healthy snack at first break.  The items available are as follows:

Cheese straws

Breadsticks

Apple

Satsuma

Crackers, cheese and cucumber

Trail mix (nut-free)

Every item costs 20p and children can only buy one item per day.

We will give the children a plastic money bag to help them keep the money safe. If they want to bring in £1 on a Monday they can then spend 20p every day for the week.

Children can still bring in their own snacks from home. The children have been learning about how sugary drinks and snacks can cause tooth decay – a letter has been sent out which has lots of information about tooth-friendly snacks.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 already receive a free piece of fruit or veg every day.  We have opened the tuck shop to children in  Year 2 so that they can have a taste of what’s available before moving into Year 3 in September.

School Dinners

We provide delicious, nutritional school meals at a very reasonable price of £2.10 per day.  All catering is done on site by Edwards & Ward and their team of experienced staff, many of whom have worked in our school for a number of years.  You don’t have to book in advance, you can simply sign up in the morning when you bring your child to school.  Our menus are carefully planned and really varied  – take a look below to see what is available.

Where possible we try to offer a dual halal (h) and non-halal meat option, as well as a vegetarian (v) option every day – the menus are coded to show these options but if you are unsure please do ask a member of our admin team or contact Edwards & Ward directly (contact details are on the menus).  We still offer the option of a jacket potato every day, with a variety of fillings.

Do you know that we also offer the option of a school packed lunch every day?  There is a choice of either a ham, tuna or cheese sandwich, accompanied by salad, a piece of fresh fruit, sultanas, and a choice of yogurt or the pudding of the day.  So why not save yourself the bother of making a packed lunch and choose a school packed lunch instead!

If your child prefers sandwiches to a hot meal, why not take advantage of our school packed lunch option?

If your child has any special dietary requirements it is important that you tell us.  Please speak with a member of the admin team and we will give you a form to complete.

Free School Meals

All pupils in Foundation, Years 1 and 2 are entitled to free school meals.

Please ask a member of the Admin team if you would like more information.  If your child is in Year 3, 4, 5 or 6 you may still be entitled to free school meals and we can check your eligibility for you with a few pieces of information: please provide your national insurance number, date of birth and surname (parent’s surname rather than child’s surname).  Please be assured that all information you provide will be treated in the strictest confidence and will not be used for any other purpose than to check your eligibility for free school meals.  Even if your child is in Foundation, Year 1 or Year 2 it is still important and helpful that you complete Free School Meals eligibility checks, as this information is used to see if your child is eligible for additional Pupil Premium funding. This will help us to maximise Pupil Premium income, for the benefit of your child.

Packed Lunches and Food Brought into School

If your child prefers to bring a packed lunch it is important to make it balanced and healthy.  Research shows that a balanced, nutritional lunch helps children’s learning at school. If you are struggling for ideas please come and talk to us and we can help you with this – or better still perhaps take advantage of the school meals provided on site, now including a packed lunch as well.
